Types of electricity plugs

Electrical plugs and outlets in the world differ from one country to another, so we often find that some imported devices need to modify the shape of the plug through a “shunt” connection or change the plug completely. First, we have to get to know the types of electric plugs:

Type A and B :

These two types are very similar, and are widespread in countries that rely on 100-120 volt electricity, such as America, Canada, and Japan, with a power of no more than 15 amps. Both are characterized by their extremely small size.

The difference between them is that the first does not have a “ground” grounding terminal, while the other does. The importance of grounding lies in discharging excess electrical charges to the ground.

Type C :

It is the most widespread in the Arab world, but it is the weakest and worst of all the options, especially since we depend on it in all our devices, and this is a big mistake.

The problem with this type is that it is easy to break and gets damaged quickly. It also works at a very low amperage, so some people use it in large devices without knowing the appropriate ampere size for them, which leads to them melting and creating an electrical problem that may result in bigger problems, God forbid. .

D type :

This type does not differ much from the previous type except that it can withstand a greater intensity of electricity (up to 5 amps), in addition to the presence of grounding in it, but this type is almost lost and is never used.

F and E type :

This type is characterized by the fact that it can withstand higher electricity (up to 16 amps) and works on electricity with a voltage of 220-240 volts. It is widespread in Arab countries as a safer alternative to Type C.

They both work on each other, and they also have the property of grounding.

In addition to its spread in the Arab world, it is the most abundant in the world, especially in Europe, and it is very suitable for appliances that operate at high loads, such as the refrigerator, washing machine, or iron.

G type :

Despite its large size and high price, it has the advantage that it can withstand a lot of electricity (13 amps), and it has power.

But the biggest advantage is that its safety is very high, and it is difficult to insert metal or plastic parts to protect children from tampering with electricity.

The other advantage is that the plug has an electrical “fuse” in it, so that any electrical overload leads to the fuse burning and the power being disconnected without affecting the device, the plug, or even the electrical outlet.

This fish is known as “English fish” and is widely spread in Britain and Ireland, but it is also found in the rest of the world, but to a lesser extent.

H type :

It seems that this type is a modified type E, and what is strange is that it is only used in the areas of the West Bank and occupied Palestine.

The only difference between them is that the grounding socket is located directly on it.

L , J and N type :

This type C does not differ in the loads it bears, but it also has the advantage of rooting, and is widely spread in countries such as Italy, Brazil, Argentina, and South Africa.

It is known in our country as "Italian fish" and can be used with type C, and vice versa, which is not true.

L type is also widespread in Arabia as a safer alternative to C type.

There are also some types that are used in certain countries, but they are less common than the previously mentioned types. You can browse many types of plugs, connectors, and electrical outlets here on Jaafar Shop.
