Learn how to choose the right drill bits for you

If you want to do some DIY work in your home, you definitely need a hammer drill.

This tool is essential for carrying out drilling and screwing work in diverse types of materials and to improve its performance, you need to choose the right drill bit.

Drilling characteristics:

Screwdriver bits mainly work with a drill bit so depending on the material that is to be drilled or screwed - wood, metal, concrete, glass, brick, tile - there are different types of drill bits that are suitable. This can be alloy steel or carbide, hexagonal, smooth or grooved, high end, mid range or entry level. In all cases, the drill must meet your drilling and/or screwing needs. A box of hammer drills or cordless screwdrivers is essential.

Is there any drilling for any material?

  • the wood

For drilling wood, wood drill bits are more suitable than drill bits. These bits are particularly notable for their three-pointed bit, designed specifically for drilling soft materials. Woodworking bits have a smooth or hexagonal shank. It can be made of steel to do carpentry and carpentry work. A spade or screw bit is more suitable for making a hole in wood. These are mostly tungsten carbide, titanium, cobalt or solid carbide drill bits. Some drills are even intended only for drilling ferrous and/or non-ferrous metals.

  • Concrete

Concrete is a hard, impenetrable material. To make a hole in concrete, you need an SDS +, SDS Max, or smooth shank concrete drill bit. The concrete drill features a shaft made entirely of hardened steel and wrapped in tungsten carbide grits. With a carbide tip with 2 to 4 cutting edges, it easily drills concrete, aerated concrete and cinder blocks.

  • Bottle - cup

To do glass drilling work, you need a diamond bit. You will also find it as a diamond in the market.

  • tiles

Tile, tile and ceramic require the use of a tungsten carbide drill bit when drilling. This piece is usually conical in shape and equipped with a smooth stem.
